About Us

When Tony and Gena Bonitatibus decided to open their own medical practice, they knew they wanted to be back home in Augusta, Georgia. Their goal was to create a practice unlike any others they had seen, a place that was comforting and comfortable for their patients.

They wanted to offer one-stop allergy and asthma care, so patients don't have to go to one specialist for sinuses, another one for allergy and another for asthma.

Dr. Gena Bonitatibus started the practice in 2010 and Tony Bonitatibus joined her in 2012. They and the other Augusta Allergy & Asthma professionals on staff share the same philosophy and standards. They are here because they are smart, professional, and personable. They stay because they love the patients, the team and the atmosphere.

Much of the interaction between our patients and Augusta Allergy & Asthma is with staff other than the doctors-people who answer phones, explain procedures, perform skin testing, and submit insurance claims. We have a wonderful team, people who love to be around people and simply enjoy working here. It shows in their attitude and approach to patient care. They take time to listen to your concerns and enjoy getting to know you and your family as more than just patients, but as interested friends.

Our highly professional staff receives continual training and education on new treatments, new equipment, and new products that will improve our service to patients.

Tony Bonitatibus, M.D.,

Allergist

Dr. Tony Bonitatibus is a graduate of Westside High School in Augusta, GA. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech where he was a Presidential Scholar.

He attended medical school at both the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his Pediatrics Residency and his fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the Medical College of Georgia.

Dr. Bonitatibus worked for 9 years in private practice allergy and immunology in St. Paul, Minnesota with Aspen Medical Group. He then returned to Augusta to open his own allergy practice.

Dr. Bonitatibus is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.

His special interests include sinus problems, asthma, allergies, food allergies, pediatric allergies and asthma, and eczema.

Robyn Slaton, RN

Nurse

Robyn is a lifelong resident of the Augusta/Martinez area. She is a licensed, registered nurse. Her previous work experience includes pediatric nursing. Robyn is currently pursuing a certification in Asthma Education.

Gena Bonitatibus, M.D.,

Allergist

Dr. Bonitatibus attended Evans High School in Evans, GA. She graduated from Georgia Tech where she was a Presidential Scholar with a degree in chemical engineering.

She attended medical school at UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham). Dr. Bonitatibus returned to the Augusta area to complete her training in Pediatrics and her fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

She was briefly on the faculty at the Medical College of Georgia in the Department of Pediatrics and worked as a Pediatric Hospitalist for Pediatric Gastroenterology and Pulmonogy.

Dr. Bonitatibus is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.

Her special interests include allergies, sinus problems, hayfever, asthma, children's asthma, insect allergy, eosinophilic esophagitis, food allergies and atopic dermatitis.
